Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince!!!

Atlast the much awaited Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince is here.. It was my favourite book of the series and was eager to see the film from the moment I read the book last year.

When I entered the theatres I was very excited and happy to watch the film. The scenes, visualisation everything was stunning and I never wanted the film to end. But yet when the film ended I felt a surge of discontent,unhappiness within me. The fact that there was no more Hogwarts and no more Dumbledore was killing me.

The film started with a collapsing bridge in the muggle world and Harry enters his penultimate year in Hogwarts. The mystery becomes deep when harry gets the book of Advanced Potion Making which belongs to The half blood prince.

What's new at Hogwarts this year? Professor Horace Slughorn was appointed as the potions master and Snape to preside over The defence against dark arts.

The first half mostly comprises of hilarious comedy and romance. Let it be comedy or romance the scenes are really entertaining and amusing. Things get dark when Harry collects the memory of Horace which involves an important conversation between him and Tom Riddle about the most dangerous Dark Magic.

The Dark lake was visualised in a great way than one would have imagined.The dark lake scene may be called as the best scene in the film. Apparently the film ends with the Death of the Head Master of Hogwarts.A sad and unhappy ending which you might have ever witnessed in Potter series.

Charming Hermonie:

The best performance of the film can be warded to Emma Watson. She was so charming and Beautiful.Let it be her feelings for Ron or Deep friendship with harry,she is at her best. Especially the scene in which she converses with Harry after seeing the romance of ron with Lavender. She cries and asks harry “Is this the way you felt when Genny kisses Dean, harry?” She was cute through out the film.

Malfoy Manor:

So far we all saw Draco as a mere loser.He was unknown for most part of the last two books.But this time he proves how dangerous he could be.Ron and Harry attended fest and Party’s but Draco remained alone in his dark suit for most part of film. Looking mysterious,angry. But he is seen scared for most of the film and did most of things out of the fear that he would be killed by Dark lord. His performance was notable in this film.

Crazy Lavender:

Her looks makes us uncomfortable.She is not that good or cute. But her actions and her love for won-won makes us laugh.she is annoying at some scenes,but really makes us laugh in the other.Nice characterisation of lavender.

Dumbledore character deserves pity when drinking the liquid to get the horcrux which was under it. And it really makes us feel when Harry atlast says to Hermione that it was a fake and everything was a waste.

Tom Riddle:

This character was one of the greatest highlight of the film. Let it be the young boy and a grown teenage one, the darkness remain in each and every move. you could see a perfect villain look with this character.We have seen Lord Voldemort..But this is Tom Riddle’s first appearance and every one surely call him the perfect villain.

The Difference:

Once again I must say this is not a faithful reproduction of the book.There were some differences and some important missing sequences.

 

According to book it was Nymphadora,who escorts harry to school after being stuck at Hogwarts express.But in Film its Luna who saves and Harry.Luna disappears after that.She is seen in only other two scenes,Slughorn’s Fest and after Dumbledore’s death.

The battle after the Death of Dumbledore.. action scenes were missing in this film.They desperately missed it.I think the director concentrated on finishing it within time and lost track of the battle sequence.

Bill would be attacked by the werewolf and he would be hospitalised. But in film “was there a character called bill?”

The quidditch match in which Ginny plays a seeker. Absolutely Quidditch was given the least Importance. I thought I would see harry catching the snitch for the last ever time.But It never happened.There was quidditch,but it mostly focussed on Ron and not harry or snitch.

But I should say its really difficult to make a two and half an hour film from a seven hundred page book.

 

But the director compensated for everything with a nice,hilarious &enjoyable movie.Once again Harry potter never failed to make an impression in hearts of people.

But the fact that No Dumbledore  and Hogwarts without Harry,Hermonie,Ron and Dumbledore as its Headmaster makes me feel sad and bad.

Bride Wars

Very recently I was at satyam cinemas,Chennai to watch a nice movie. I usually prefer Tamil movies. But on that day we decided to go for a nice English or Hindi movie for a change. I am actually a fanatic of action and fantasy movie. I never preferred Drama or comedy movies.

One of my friends said Bride wars is a really good movie. This movie got nice reviews and it’s a must watch movie. So we decided to go to  Bride wars.

Bride wars portrays the the story of two best friends who turns enemies when they schedule their wedding on same day. Liv(Kate Hudson) and Emma(Anne Hathaway) are two good friends. The former is a Lawyer and later is a school teacher. Both of them gets engaged in same day and their dream is to get married in Plaza Hotel. They book two different dates,But due to a small mistake from the secretary of  Marion St. Claire their wedding gets scheduled on same day. A revolt breaks between the two, when none of the them agrees to change their date of wedding. As an outcome the two best friends becomes two worst enemies. So,Whether both of them turns friends again? Are they getting married on same date? Is the remaining plot.

The film is categorised under comedy,Romance. But only very few scenes(might be two or three) in the film made me laugh. There was no importance given to romance or love,as both the male counterparts were almost absent for most of the film. They just appear in the scenes to agree and nod their heads to the female leads. There were lengthy scenes with more dialogues than necessary which was very distracting and the two friends always shouts excitedly in each and every scene during the first part of the film was awful.

However there are few plus points too. Kate Hudson did her role really well both in comedy and emotional scene. She was the only plus to the film. And Anna Hathaway, She was looking dull through out the film. She actually got a very serious role in this film when compared to Kate. She looks pretty and cute in every other film,but in Bridal Wars she is a disaster when in looks. She looks as if she had not slept for weeks and I felt like she was crying the whole day before enacting the scenes.

I felt even a cruel war film with lots of blood shed would have been better than the Bride wars.

Expectation leads to Disappointment

Yesterday night I witnessed a real life example for “What happens when the expectation exceeds limits?”

Its not only me,But millions witnessed the same. This is about the exit of India from T20 world cup.

Yesterdays match was between India and England. India in a must win situation after there defeat to West Indies in their first Super eight match. India were clearly the favourites with strong batting and bowling line up. This is one of the best teams India ever had in their cricketing history. And the young,wise captain M.S.Dhoni was considered the best captain in the world. The day before the match, Legends like Sachin Tendulkar,Srikanth and Gavaskar quoted “This team can perform very well under lots of pressure”. Everyone from legends to millions of fans were expecting India to defend the title.

It was the first time in history the English crowds were outnumbered by our Indians in lords. The stadium never looked like Lords in England. It was like one of the Indian home ground's. The stadium was full packed with tri colour flag flying high in the air. It was a lovely scene to see our flags flying in air. There was a sudden huge roar from the crowd when Dhoni came to the field for the first time to call for the toss. Dhoni won the toss and selected to field. Indian Players walked to the field with a strong line-up. Gautam Gambhir, Rohit sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Ravi Jadeja, R.p.Singh, Zaheer Khan,Harbhajan Singh,Ishanth Sharma&Suresh Raina accompanied the captain.

Things started well when dangerous Luke wright was dismissed my R.p.singh.Credit goes to pathan for his excellent catch from leg slip position. However Kevin Peterson and Ravi Bopara smashed the Indian blowers. Kevin Peterson was at his best. Everyone expected the intresting duel of Yuvraj vs Kevin.But kevin proved to be mightier than ever. Ravi Jadeja rescued India by taking the wickets of Kevin and Ravi Bopara. Still England managed to get a comfortable total of 153 at the end of their Innings.

Indian innings started of in a great fashion but didn't last long.As Rohit sharma and Raina went back with a single digit. It was a great disappointment. But jadeja and Gambhir stabilised the innings. But the Run rate went sky high and the inexperienced jadeja failed to capitalise due to pressure. Further Disappointment awaited India when Yuvraj was stumped out in a cheap way. Yuvraj started of well but he went out like a cracker which failed to burst. The crowd remain silent and the captain accompanied by Yusuf pathan tried till death. Atlast the tri coloured flag came done after falling short by just three runs.

It was the same time last year when Dhoni lead an inexperienced Indian side towards the glory.There were no expectations last year as trio Dravid, Sachin and Ganguly opted their way out of team.But India managed a great win. But this year million hearts broke down when our players fell short and failed to win the battle.

Whom can we blame for the failure?

Man with immense ability Yuvraj??

None can be blamed.The expectation we had on our team,The expectation the great legends had on our team were shattered. The greater expectation makes things worse than it is in real.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Atlast the most expected X-men origins:wolverine was released a few weeks back. The first three parts of the film was really good. The idea of mutants, Fight between mutants and humans were great. When i saw the first film, I was curious to know about the past of wolverine. What was he in the past? How he lost his memory? How he got that Adamantium blades etc. I thought the answer to all these questions will be revealed in second part. In the second part a character called William Stryker was Introduced. They just revealed that only William Stryker knew about wolverines past. Then my curiosity reached greater heights, as i waited for the third part:The last stand. But the story was not revealed. But the story marked the end of X-Men. Magneto was defeated.Mystique was transformed into human with the cure. Magneto was also a human now. My mind was still waiting for the part of wolverine. Why they never showed about wolverine’s past? I thought the director and story writer must have forgotten about the past of wolverine.

Three years passed after the release of The Last stand. Suddenly to my surprise I saw an add in Paper with my super hero Wolverine’s picture. The Film tilted

Xmen Origins-Wolverine

I was surprised and waited for the release of the film. It was the most anticipated movie of the year. I thought I should watch the film in theatre on its first day of release. But my exam schedules spoilt my plan. So now after some weeks of release, I went to the Cinema to watch the movie,which revealed the past of my favourite super hero.

The film started with a boy killing his own father(the boy doesn't know that the man was his father). The boy was none other than Logan. Logan joined hands with this half brother Victor after killing his father. From the next few scenes i realized both of them joined army and fought several wars. Both of them were not killed due to regenerative healing power.

Both of them were sentenced to death for killing their own superior. But they couldn't be killed. William Stryker took notice of these two and asked them to join his army of mutants. They joined and during a mission of finding a precious element(adamantium), things went sour between logan and victor. Logan went away from mutant army and continued his life as a lumberjack along with girl friend. After several years victor started killing the members of the mutant army. Logan refused for protection when stryker asked for it. Victor killed logan girl friend. Logan in the rage of killing victor went to stryker and accepted for making him the weapon X. His bones were reinforced with powerful indestructible element adamantium.

The remaining story revolves with how wolverine escaped from stryker and did he avenge his half brother victor. The betrayal of Logan's girlfriend for saving her sister was a turning point. Logan loses his memory when adamantium bullets were shot at him by stryker.

The powerful story and plot of wolverine is the great plus of the film. The stunts were a plus. However I miss Storm, Jene, magneto in this film. The superheroes are missing.
