Who Am I???

2009-09-25 27 comments

Who am I? What for I am born and what am I going to do in this world? Sometimes when I am alone and when I deeply think about myself, a series of questions strikes me inside my head...

Who am I?

Am I good son to my parents??

I feel like I have never made my parents happy. Right from the age of 5, my mom asks me to study well. But till now I haven’t bothered to listen to her words. I shout at her when the food she prepared is not tasty. But till now I never understood the pain of standing in kitchen and cooking. Am I a good son to my mom??

Am I a good friend??

Sometimes my friends ask me for help. I do help those most often. But sometimes there comes situations during which I am forced to say NO. My friends like me a lot... While there are some who hates me too… Why can’t I be a good friend to everyone?? Why can’t I help everyone when they need me?

Am I a good student??

Lectures, Have I ever listened to them in my life time? Teachers scold me and also punish me for not listening. But I didn’t realize they are punishing me for my own good. I never bothered to respect their words. Am I a good student to my teachers??

Am I a good Citizen?

Till date.. what I have done for my mother country? Why am I so selfish to think about myself? Why I am Self-centric? Why can’t I think out of box and make a difference?

Am I a good Lover?

Whenever she called me I ignored her. I spent most of my time in cricket, racing and other games. Did I satisfy her at least once? Did I do whatever she asked me to do? I couldn’t manage to keep my eyes off other beautiful girls, even when she was sitting alongside me. I never failed to express the beauty of everything around me. But I miserably failed to express the beauty of life when she was with me. Am I a good lover?

And the questions go on… For everything the answer remains no. Till now I haven’t found out who I am and what role god has assigned me in the game of life….

A Costly Mistake: Epilogue

2009-09-15 24 comments

First my apologies for taking such a long time to post the final edition of this series. If you have forgotten (or) if you haven't read the first two parts..you can do so from the below links

Part I

Part II

After travelling for half an hour,we reached a place which was very dark. There were no street lights. There was a fly over, but the auto driver took a different route which was below the Fly over.It was extremely dark and there was no other living being in the vicinity. The auto suddenly stopped.

This scene made me a bit frightening. I asked to myself “Where the Hell am I? Am I heading towards Delhi? Why did the auto stop at this place?” Oh… My god.. I knew I was in some sort of trouble.

I looked around. Even the driver left me..He said  “I will be back in few min..” ..Everything was dark. My heart started beating at 210 times a min.  I just took my seat inside the auto and started thinking. My first thought was about my mom. A series of question aroused….

What happens If i die in this same place?

Will they bury me? or burn me to ashes?

How will my mom and dad find me once I am buried or burnt?

What my parents will think about my friend for being so careless?

How can my mom live without me?

While thinking about these.. I heard some distant footsteps. I quickly collected some stones and covered it using the file within which I had my certificates. I heard the footsteps more clearly as they were approaching me. Suddenly 5 to 6 peoples appeared before me.Everyone looked like rogues. very tall and stout. One man hurried towards and asked “Where you want to go?Delhi?” I said yes. On hearing my answer everyone started laughing at me. I don't know why. They spoke in some language I guess it might be Urdu or something else.  I couldn't understand even a single word.

I checked my mobile.Still no signal and the time was half past 9… Then one man who was on his late 50’s came near me. He threw his arm around my shoulder and pulled me. He said  “Come I will take you to Delhi”. His attire and outfits clearly depicted he is a Muslim. His Voice was flat and rude. He said something in urdu..I was not able to understand fully, but with some words I assumed myself what he said.. He told me that “we have to walk for 5 min from here and then I will drop you near Delhi”. I had no other option except to go with him.

The others left the place laughing and singing loudly,as if they have achieved something. We started walking and he was still holding my shoulders very firmly. He asked me the place which I belonged to and I said I am from Chennai. And I started saying my usual Hindi dialogue to him “Maaf kijiye… mujhe Hindi thoda he malum hai..” To my surprise he started speaking in English.. He said “My name is Azad khan”.. He also said he knows English very little.

To my surprise He was a very nice man and took me to his place. He somehow managed to speak in English. After reaching his place, He escorted me to his auto and soon we started moving towards Delhi.I asked him about why the auto stopped there.. and what’s all this about… He replied politely with a smirk that the auto in which I came had no license for entering Delhi. So they asked the Muslim bhai to take me to Delhi. He dropped me at Indaprastha around 10:15 pm. As conversed before he asked me 180rs… But I was so happy and relieved to reach that place and I gave him 200rs. I soon got the metro train and thought about what and all happened in a single day. I laughed at myself..  thinking about death for this small issue. This Incident had a great impact on me to such an extent that I forgot totally about the interview I attended. I soon reached Bharahkambha Road where my friend was waiting for me.

THE END…..

q

And I wish all the aspiring Engineers of India. Today is Engineers day….

A Costly Mistake-Part II

2009-08-24 26 comments

This is a continuation of “A costly mistake-Part I”. You can read it by clicking HERE.

It was time and the test was about to begin. I could see many officials entering the auditorium with bulks of papers in their hands. They looked like high class professionals and Atlast one of them made his way to the dais with a mike in his hands and started with a welcome note. The welcome note was followed by the Instructions for written exam. Most of the instructions were in Hindi. Majority of the students were from South India and most of them don't know Hindi. I interpreted the instructions to students around me. That's when I realized I can understand Hindi.

“It seems you know Hindi. You can understand a lot better than I expected” A voice spoke from inside my head and this statement brought an instant smile to my face. But it was short lived as the officials started circulating the question paper and answer sheets. We had two hours to complete the paper, which consisted of several aptitude and domain questions.  I first took the aptitude paper and it was like a piece of cake. I completed the aptitude paper in half an hour. The domain paper was little bit tricky one.  It took me one hour to complete the domain part and still I completed the paper half-an-hour before the scheduled time. I returned my answer sheets back and left the hall.

I met my friend who was eagerly waiting for me and both of us hurried to lunch hall. The lunch was free of cost and we were so happy to see the Buffet system(everything was unlimited in terms of quantity). We had a lots of stuffs to eat and someone tapped me on my shoulders. I turned back and to my surprise it was two of my school mates. They both joined us for lunch. And we had a great lunch and the discussion about the school life brought smile in everyone’s face. Myself and my friends  were the last few to leave the lunch hall and we made our way back to the huge auditorium.I completely forgot about the test I wrote and something prickled inside me when I entered the hall. It was half past 1 and the results would be published by 2 o’clock. The half-an-hour was like sitting in a gas stove and something was bothering me continuously. It was 2 and one of the officials made his way to dais and started reading out the names. It was a short list of students. Nearly 300 electrical students appeared for the exam. I had no idea whether I would be selected or not. I never prepared for the exam and I was scolding myself when each name was read. nearly forty to forty five students names were read and I was sitting there with my fingers crossed. My confidence level started deteriorating and the faith over god started surged to the highest point. My counter ticks whenever a name is read and so far the counter read 46.

And suddenly to my surprise the 47 name was “Shankar Narayanan”. I stood up very happily but it ended in sorrow when another guy stood up along with me. He is the other “Shankar Narayanan” who wrote the exam and there was a confusion. Now my confidence overtook faith and I was sure it was me and not the other guy. We both enquired about this to an official and he said “Shankar Narayanan.B” is the one selected. It was none other than me. The selected candidates were escorted to another room and I was the last to enter the room due to the unwanted confusion.

50 electrical and 50 instrumentation students were selected and both my school mates didn't manage to clear the examination. After waiting for several hours, I was asked to appear before the Interview panel at 6pm. Both of my school mates and my friend in Delhi, left the place at 4 o’clock. They assured me that they will come back at 7 and pick me up. All the three left to Delhi and enjoyed going around Delhi and visiting many places like palika bazaar,Bharah kambha road and to several other malls at Delhi.

I appeared before the panel which consisted of three experienced men's. One person was very aged maybe around 60 years. The second was a bit strange, harsh looking man.It was clear that he was on his 50’s. The third was comparatively younger and smarter of the three. After the formal introduction, they asked me three questions. The first two were very easy and I gave very detailed explanation to those questions. Then all the three HR’s discussed about something for few seconds. The third HR shot the final question. It was a bit tricky but I managed some how and I made my way out of the room.

It was 7pm. The interview was over by the time and the results were ready. The results of electrical engineering came first. This time 30 names were read from the 50 selected students. And alas my name didn't make it to the sheets. I could see some students jumping in joy.I felt may be they were better than me. I was a bit confident this time and still I couldn't make it. All the 30 students were asked to assemble separately and the voice continued “You can all go out”. The whole crowd went in silence. He continued “Those other than the names I specified can stay back and get yourselves prepared for next round.” I was shocked and also happy. I couldn't believe what he said. The way they published the results lacked professionalism. It was so unethical and never expected such a good company to react this way.

It was 8pm and I appeared before another panel. The questions this time were general. They asked me whether I am ready to work anywhere in India. And they also tested my Hindi speaking and Understanding ability. To my surprise.. I satisfied there basic criteria in Hindi. That was my biggest achievement through out the Interview process. But it was not over. One last question.. This was my last question for the interview process.

HR said “One last question.. This question decides your future with our concern”

(Was it a technical question? what was the question about? Did I answer correctly? Did I clear the Interview?)

“Are you ready to sign a three years bond with us? You may have to work any where in India… Are you ready for this? If yes you may have to sign immediately and  join as soon as possible”

My mind raced through several answers and several faces……

My heart said “just say yes..This is a great opportunity….”

My Intellect said “just think whether its good for you… before you decide..”

The room was very silent and I could hear the sound of air rushing out from the Air-Conditioner. Both the HR watched me anxiously. Still I remained silent. This may sound as an easy question. But it was really difficult for me to answer this question. I never knew why.

Atlast the silence was broken.. I answered “Sir..I need some time to think about it.. I am not sure about my decision and may be I have to consult my parents before taking the decision.”

HR replied.. “ So you are not sure about making your own decisions…Well and good… you may go now..”

I was very sad and made my way out…. I felt like I should have answered yes.

The selected list was read atlast and I am not surprised this time.I know I had made a mistake and I shouldn't have done it. I made my way out. 13 or may be 15 were selected at last.

I was sitting at the corridor. i felt bad for making such a mistake. Suddenly one old man sat besides me and said “ Never get disappointed when didn't get appointed”.. Cheer up… better luck next time.. He said…

I soon left the college and realised that my friend didn't turn up… Oh God!!! without knowing Hindi.. “How I am going to make my way from Noida to Delhi..?” I never know the route.. It was 9 pm…. I called my friend and he said he was at Delhi. He asked me to reach barahkambah road In Delhi within 11,so that we can catch the last train to his home. I was really angry and had no idea of what to do. I walked out of the college and searched for an auto. After a long walk for about 2 kilometers I found one auto and asked him to drop me at Delhi. There were two persons. As soon as i said i want to go to Delhi,One of the two gave a smirk and hissed something on the other ones ears. They two were involved in some sort of discussion and finally said ok. They asked me 200.But I argued and managed to 180. I asked 150,but they didn't accept and due to time constraint and there was no other auto around. Finally they accepted for 180 and started from the place. They took an entirely different route from noida. I clearly know the route by which we came to noida. But he took entirely different route.an opposite one. I was little suspicious about them.

My Formula For Love!!!

2009-08-21 41 comments

A few days back, I learnt “What Is love?” from one my friends in blogosphere. His name is Bharathi and you can check out his post by clicking here. It was such a nice post and reminded me of my teen age.

This is perhaps the most important memory I have collected.Let’s go to the pensive and take a look at my memory.

I was 13 years old. I was at 8th standard to be precise. It was my first year as a teenager. It was the age when love and infatuation were synonyms and it was the age which gave birth to many crushes.

I was a last bench genius those days (not now… of course…Engineering made me blunt…), very good in maths, very mischievous. I would be punished severely for not allowing others to listen to lectures and classes.

It was one fine morning, which turned bad when I saw my biology teacher entering the class. She hated me completely since I won’t listen to her lectures and instructions. Myself and two other friends of mine would be sitting together at last bench. We were more like Ryan, Hari and Alok of “Five point someone”. Suddenly one of my friends raised a topic. We were a bit excited as the topic was new to us to discuss about. This is how the conversation began...X is my first friend and Y the second one…

X: Hey Shankar!!! Do you know anything about love???

Me: No…. I think we can speak about it a few years later..

X: Why not now? See we have started wearing Full-pants (instead of shorts) to school. we are big boys now… aren't we?

Me: of course..We are… (That's the first year we started wearing Full pants. Till seventh we were asked to wear half pants) so what do you want to know now?

Y: Hey guys!! won’t you listen to what the teacher says? It won’t be nice if we stand out of the class before those beautiful girls. I don't want my image to get spoiled.

X: Hey Shankar..You are good at maths...you score 90 every time and you know each and every formula…

Me: so what? What it has got to do with love?

X: tell me a formula for love...If you are so called good in maths…

Me: formula for love? Let me think…

Y: Guys!! Take a look at the girl in the second row..How gorgeous she is??

Me: shut up!!! Let me think for some time.

(The period ended sooner than I expected. I was thinking for the next three periods for a formula. But I didn't get any proper Idea.

Hurray!! It was lunch period and at least we can talk freely without anyone watching us, atleast for some time.)

X: For how much time you will think? The maths genius cannot even derive a formula???

Me: This is not maths. We can rather call it chemistry.

X: ok. What about the formula? If chemistry then make it as a equation.

Me: Why are you suddenly asking about love?

X: Because yesterday my brother told me that he is in love with a girl!!!

Me: oh…!! So what and all your brother does with his lover?

X: He often speaks to her in phone… all useless topics..

Me: That we also do.. Whenever we speak over in phone we talk about useless things as we do now. Next?

X: They go to movies together.

Me: Hey… we also do the same thing. So there is not much difference between friendship and love!!.

X: No…No…No… There is one main difference…

Me: What’s that??

(After uttering those words my friend looked on his sides to check if someone is listening to our discussions. Suddenly he came closer and kissed me on my cheeks. )

Me: What the hell are you doing? What happened to you?

X: What I did to you now?

Me: you kissed me… idiot….

X: I kissed you only on your cheeks. For that you are scolding me. But my brother kisses his lover on lips..

Me: when you kiss on cheeks, that's called a kiss. But when you kiss on lips?? What’s that called? (See we were so ignorant on that age…)

X: may be lips kiss??

(This is where my another friend, who was just listening to what we spoke enters the conversation)

Y: You dumb fools… Do you know what it is when someone kisses on lips??

(myself and X were puzzled..and looking anxiously at Y for the answer!!!)

Y: If some one kisses the other on the lips, its called s**…

X:really???

Y:Do you think I am joking??

Me: Then let me frame the formula… I have a new formula…I got it..

X: Great…what’s that?

Me: So the lovers do whatever we do… and additionally they do something called S**….

So the Formula is Love= Friendship+s**….. How it is??

X:Disgusting…..s** is something bad. don't use that word.

Me: Then let us search for a good word from dictionary.

( I asked for a dictionary from a girl. We searched for a word which can effectively replace sex. Atlast with great efforts I found a word!!!!)

Me: “Eureka!!!” I yelled.I got it. So the new formula for love is

Love= Friendship + Lust

X: wow.Its great. Now let us spread this to whole class.

Y:Then, What is friendship?? Shankar..

Me: simple… If love=friendship+lust….Then Friendship= love-lust..(This is how engineers refer to problems!!! lol…)

Few Days later….

Teacher: It seems you are studying applied maths?

Me: Ma’m?? I didn't get you???

Teacher: It seems you are deriving formula’s for various unwanted stuffs.

Me: ????

My formula was a Hit.But I got several punishments!! (the after effects of my formula…..)

I was made to stand out of principal’s room for a whole week and had my lunch in staff room along with teachers.

Irony is that, they liked it and some teachers laughed after hearing my formula. But still they punished me.

Celebrating Independence!!!!

2009-08-14 39 comments

Hey Guys…

This is the first Independence day I celebrate with my blog and Bloggers..Right from the age of 5 my way of celebrating Independence had been changing and it differs a lot at different stages of life.

From the Age of 5-10..I used to go to school only for the purpose of getting chocolates which were provided at the end of Independence day celebrations in school.

From 10-12 I participated in various dramas, programmes and speech..Those days were real fun as I used to forget many dialogues..But I will manage by speaking my own dialogues which will make the crowd to laugh. And behind the screens I was given punishments for such a behaviour on stage.

But the next stage was a little bit different and fascinating one. At the Age of 13-15 I participated in NCC.I felt really proud to wear the NCC uniform.Mainly because it looked different with all those badges. And since I was the Corporal of my NCC unit I had lots of responsibilities during the Independence day like gathering troops..arranging them in a neat and regular manner. It feels really good when you are commanding others.

At 15 and 16 I was the member of school RSP troop..which was nothing but voluntary services.another similar one like NCC. Those years were great ones too.

But after entering college there was nothing much to celebrate since there were no functions. No NCC or RSP in my college and not even a chocolate to share. So during the college my way of celebration completely changed.I used to pin up the flag over my shirt every year to show everyone that I am proud to be an Indian. But  my focus were really upon watching new movies that are releasing on Independence day. My friends would book tickets and we had some few funny and good hours during those days.

Now my college days are over.Lucky I got this blog and bloggers to celebrate with this time. And to my surprise there was an award waiting for me today from my fellow blogger MEGHANA.

I surely have to tell about her blog here. Those who haven't visited her blog please do so.By clicking the name above. Her blog features mostly about our culture, tradition, friendship,God,Saris etc..etc…arranged in a neat template and very inviting to read.I am very happy to receive the award from her.

So there is no fun in celebrating alone…So i want to share this award with my fellow bloggers who deserves this too…So I present this award to the following members..And the winners can put this picture in your blog(as a widget) if you like to do so.

A Costly Mistake….Part I

2009-08-12 19 comments

The Known Stranger:

It was half past twelve. The sky was dark and the chill air was whipping through each and every part of my body. It was a tense moment and my hand which was holding the bat was shivering. I could see the Winners Cup glowing with the aid of reflections from the flood lights around the ground. There was absolute silence for a minute. Even the commentator stood silent and I could see my team members waiting eagerly to uplift the Golden trophy. The opponents were busy setting up the field. Everyone came closer and only one person was standing out of the circle in deep fine leg. The path through which the team reached the finals of the tournament was not an easy one. So it was the final moment. There was only a single ball which separated me and my team from the glory. A do or die situation. One ball remaining, two runs to get.

Suddenly someone tapped me on my hands.Everything went dark. A voice spoke “Its time..Shankar”. The voice was not a familiar one to me and I couldn't recognise who spoke to me. I felt like both my eyelids were stitched together and it was too heavy to open. With great difficulty, after a few seconds I opened my eyes and realised it was just a dream. I saw a man who I guess was on his early fifty’s. He was short, half-bald and a bit skinny. But I couldn't see the face clearly. I quickly reached for my spectacles and got it over my nose. Now I could recognise the man who spoiled my sleep and dream. It was my friends father. He turned back to me and said “Good morning…get yourselves ready..Its half past four..”. Half past four??oh my god!! I had never got up so early in my life time..Not even during my exams..

I got up half-heartedly and my eyes were swollen. I hardly slept for two-three hours that night as I was chatting with my friend about Delhi,What is good about it and what is bad about it. It was 5:15 am when I got myself prepared for the Interview and I saw my friend still sleeping in his bed. Atlast his mobile alarm went up and his father started yelling him for getting up so late. He brushed his teeth and took a book in his hand which I recognised as “Men are from mars and Women are from Venus”. Without my approval he took my I-pod and said to me “Lets start buddy..Its already late….”.

From Delhi To Noida:

His house was located at Tilak Nagar. So we had to make a 2 to 3 hours travel to go to Noida. We took the Delhi metro at 6:15am.I thought the train might not be much crowded as it was early morning and I was pretty much looking forward to get a seat so that I could get some sleep. But It was not as I expected..It was much crowded as it would be in peak hours. And the 25 minutes journey was really painful to me. My friend was keep on asking me questions from electrical, but I was not ready to answer and kept silent. We reached Barahkambha Road around 22 minutes later. My friend enquired about the easiest and shortest way to get to Noida.

We caught a bus to Noida and once again I had to stand for another one hour journey. This journey made me sick and I felt like returning back to my friends home.I was not in a mood to attend the interview.I thought of giving up and returning to Delhi. The bus in which we travelled suddenly stopped. When asked about the problem the conductor told “TYRE PUNCTURED BHAYYA”. After lots of difficulties I reached the place of Interview at 8:45am. 15 minutes late from the scheduled time. However the written test started at 9:15 am only. I could see some familiar Tamil faces..I recognised them immediately as they travelled with me from Chennai to Delhi.

The atmosphere around the college:

The place of Interview was actually a college which was owned by the same management which owned the company, for which I was asked to attend the Interview. My friend made his way to waiting room along with my I-pod and his book.He warned me to get myself out at the end of first round. I felt pity for him because he had to wait for me the whole day in a room.

As I said before it was an engineering college along with Integrated management courses. The college was really a huge one with lots of space to play. The site of girls playing basketball and Badminton was very inviting and my bad mood that day cheered up.It was pleasant with lots of plants along the sides of the pathway, which lead to a large building with a black board placed before it.It consisted of the names and registration number of all candidates appearing for the exam. I found mine and noted down my registration number. I was given directions by one of the security to the place where where I have to write the exam.

While entering I felt like the steps were at the centre and the room extended on both sides of it.It was exactly as I thought except that the hall exceeded my expectations. It was a huge auditorium constructed in a semi-circular fashion. The beautiful thing about the construction is while you are in your first step of the stairs you can only view the roof of the auditorium and while reaching the last one you can see a semi-circular dais straight ahead of you. On both the sides you can see black coloured seating's. A writing pad was provided to each person.Electrical students were escorted to left side of the hall and Instrumentation students to right side of the hall.

I made my way to the left side of the hall. There were rest rooms and toilets to the both left and right ends of the hall. The floors were made of marbles which were sandal coloured and I could see my face winking back at me through the floors. The walls resembled or looked liked they were made of woods. And there were large hangings which reminded me the last scene of Hp and the sorcerers stone, where the Gryffindor, slytherin etc..etc.. hangings were seen. The lights also were also of the same colour which added beauty to the place and It gave me a impression of being in a theatre and not an exam hall.

So it was time and the test was about to begin. I could see many officials entering the auditorium with bulks of papers in their hands. They looked like high class professionals and atlast one of them made his way to the dais with a mike in his hands and began his speech.

TO BE CONTINUED……..

Friendship Day Wishes!!!!

2009-08-02 22 comments

First I wish all my friends & fellow bloggers in this network a “Very Happy Friendship Day”.

But very sorry I don't know to write any poems.. Actually I tried, but its a great flop…So never mind..Hope there are fellow bloggers here who can write poems about friendship too. I guess pawan or vipul could do it…A few quotes always comes to mind when I think about friendship…Ofcourse they are not my original ones. But they come to my mind whenever I think of friends and Friendship…

Life is Partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends whom we choose”.

A friend in need is a friend indeed”.

A life without a friend is unimaginable. Let it be any stage of life, can anyone exist without any friends? or friendship?

The most important thing is Friendship don't know cast, creed, status or anything. And ofcourse my life is no different. A life without friends can be compared to a pen without ink. Its useless..

And the friends I got over the past few months with this blog..they are also very special too…These friends are ofcourse a step ahead I have to say.Because I haven't seen them before. And they Haven’t seen Shankar too… But still they praise me,appreciate me,teach me,criticize me and they also have read the pages of my life. But they never expect anything in return. This is the world where even close relations expect something in return. But these friends who do not expect anything should be given a note..And I dedicate this post to all my friends in this world..Once again wishing you

A Very Happy Friendship Day

The Unpleasant Journey

2009-07-29 16 comments

After having a week’s trip to Delhi and a one day trip to Tirupathi, I am here now in home. I thought I could enjoy my days ahead with good food at home(as for now). But things turned bad on Monday eve.First a little headache and then cold and within a hours time I got fever. Within the next few hours I could feel the heat of my body temperature rising above normal.

The irony is that I had a Trip to tirupathi the next day. And having such a temperature and a day in tirupathi is not a joke as huge crowds turn out there and once we are inside temple we cannot come out without visiting lord venkateshwara.

My mother got really scared about my health and my father started advising what not to do.My father was really worried and he asked me not to sleep at late hours. But till now for the past one year I had never slept before 1 am. My father was pouring advises and repeated advises bored me. This situation reminded me of the time when I was in bed affected by Hepatitis-A.

My mom, dear mom asked me whether I can come to tirupathi.. Actually speaking the fact I was not in a situation to go.But I auspiciously believe that saying no to a temple is a big sin.So I said to my mom “everything will be alright tomorrow morning and I will come with you”. feel_sick-700625

We started early morning and my condition didn't improve a bit. I told my parents I was alright. But my mom can judge things on seeing my face. She understood I was not in a condition to come. She insisted me to stay back. But I argued “I feel comfortable being with you than staying alone in these kinds of situations”.

We were at Chennai Central Railway Station at 5:45 am to board Sapthagiri Express. To my sorrow my father reserved seats in Ac. I said to myself, “its just a three hours journey, you can manage”.The first two hours were comfortable one as the coach was not much colder.Suddenly after sometime I started trembling.. I felt like the temperature has gone down below zero. I went outside but was not able to stand for long as I was feeling sick. A very tough one hour.

Then to my sorrow there was a huge crowd and I have no option other than standing in line along with my parents and brother. We joined the queue and after 5 hours we came out seeing the lord. The last train from Tirupathi is at 5:20 and we just came out at 4:30.We have to make our way down to Tirupathi station which involves a 40 min journey. As we came down the hill due to pressure my ears started paining. I felt like some one was trying to make his way out of my ears with a sharp needle in hand. I couldn't tolerate the pain and somehow we caught the train at the last moment.

Once again it was A/c coach and I was trembling for whole three hours. The train was late by half an hour. Then we went to a hotel and I just had a cup of milk and I never felt like eating. We returned back to home at 10:30 in the night.

I used to watch a program called “SACH KA SAAMNA” at 10:30 but my father immediately switched off the television urging me to go to bed. And till now my condition has not improved.. But I think I have recovered by say 10 percent.

And I have a Big cricket tournament ahead this weekend. And I am not sure whether i will recover within that time.. And even if I recover I am not sure whether my parents would allow me to play. And I owe my captain a lot.I cannot stay as such in home saying others to play. I am in a pathetic and tough situation through out the week so far.I think it will change.

Entering Blogosphere Again!!

Hey..

I am back… I had a hectic trip, but I just found some two or three hours for roaming in Delhi. Let me post about my experience in Delhi tomorrow or day after. It was pretty nice and unique experience. But I didn't find time to roam Delhi and I went to very few places. These were just taken with a 2mpx mobile camera. So you cannot expect much clarity out of it.

Blogging Prohibited!!

2009-07-18 20 comments

Oh..my god…. Atlast my happy days are over… I had mixed emotions last month. From one point of view I was happy that I was staying at home happily..very relaxed, away from my engineering books, records everything. On the other hand I was little bit worried that I didn't have nice time, party’s with my friends as I used to have before..

Now the time has come. There is a change. The change from irresponsible boy to responsible man. The week ahead is really going to be very interesting and thrilling. I have a Interview next week in Noida. I have not yet prepared anything. I have no hopes of getting through the Interview.Yet its going to be a great trip.I have to travel alone there. All my friends applied there but only I got the call letter. The irony is that I don't know Hindi other than “ Ek gawn may ek kissan rahuta tha”. I don't know how I am going to manage. So I might not be blogging for next week.

However Microsoft windows live writer has provided one great option. We can set the publish date and the post will be posted on the respected date as specified even though we are away from the blogs.

But I could not write much.Just written a single post and It will be published on the following week when I am away from this blog..

So meet you soon….. after 26th July….

Till then bye from

–Its me Shankar…

Feed Backs Invited!!!

2009-07-13 20 comments

Yesterday I read one of the post titled “Disgruntled” from one of my good friends in this Blogosphere. I was shocked to see my blog being mentioned in the last paragraph. I wondered what for? Was it to appreciate about my blog? or was it to criticize? the answer for both the question is no… then what for? When I continued reading I found that my fellow friend was disappointed as he was not able to comment for my blog and to his another friends blog…

Oh..my god!!! I said to myself… I am working on my comments for past one week.. Did a lot of things.. changed comment forms, changed java scripts, changed templates…

Everything started last week when one of my friends and top commenter of the blog Lavanya raised a issue stating that she is trying to post a comment in my blog..but she couldn't.I thought she might have not submitted the comment and might be her fault as everyone else was posting comments. Then came another complaint… Pawan commented..” Shankar, i commented in your blog..but was not able to see my comment now… Did you delete my comment?”. After hearing this I understood there is some problem with my comment form. While searching for a method to delete the present comment form and to embed a new comment form I found a new, modern “Intense Debate” comment form with various features. But after I installed I found all my earlier comments were deleted. And my blog is left out with zero comments. I apologized to everyone for this. But I thought everything was alright now.

But the next day Lavanya once again mailed me that she cannot see the comment box itself. I enquired about this two other friends..Shilpa and Venky about the issues. Shilpa said she was able to post her comment only after four unsuccessful tries. Ofcourse I realised everyone cannot be as generous and patient as shilpa to wait and comment even after three unsuccessful tries. So,I decided to change my favourite template. It was a good template and my favourite one.Everyone liked the template and it was so welcoming to my visitors.

So I sat back the whole night before the system and searched for few templates whole night. Added java scripts,Images etc..etc..to give a good look to the template. But still menu work is pending.I thought everything was fine and comments started coming slowly once again.I was relieved until yesterday.

I became extremely sad and felt bad when shubhayan expressed about the new word verification problem while commenting. And once again lavanya was the first one to complain about this. So,once again I thought of changing template. But this time little bit lucky to sort out the issue quickly.Just now while writing this post I received a mail from lavanya stating that she was able to comment now. Huh.I was relieved after one week struggle. But still waiting for a positive reply from subhayan

So…If somebody is having a problem in commenting.. How can they convey to me? If they don't know my id,what do they do? this question ran through my mind and I decided to add a feedback form through which everyone can contact me..about the issues of my blog.. You can find the Feedback form in top menu after Home, posts rss and comments rss.. Please feel free to utilise it and state the issues of my blog. It can be a positive or negative feedback.I would try my level best to settle the issue.

And once again I thank shubhayan, lavanya, shilpaa, pawan and venki for mentioning the issues and help me sort out the issues.

My day at Raj Bhavan

2009-07-09 8 comments

It was morning 9am, I got up from bed asusual thinking that this is going to be another boring day of life.Days are really boring as I passed out of college a few days back. And most cruel thing is I have hectic exams ahead this month. But these exams are a little different. These exams ensure my place in one of the better concerns. No more hanging out with friends. It has been lots of days since I saw my friends. Thinking of all these I hated each day that comes ahead. I thought today was no different until I received a beep from my Google talk. Who was that?

It was none other than lakshmi parkavi. Wonder who’s that lakshmi parkavi? She was the founder of HARDUM web portal(the on which I mentioned a few pages before). The message said “Hey Shankar.. lucky you were online now.. just give me your mobile number?” I gave her my number. Then the next moment I heard the Die another day song… It came from my mobile… I took the call. A female voice spoke hurriedly as if she was speaking after running fast for several hours. The voice said “Shankar this is lakshmi.” and she never allowed me to talk. Lakshmi invited me to join the official launch of her website HARDUM. “she just said be there at 10:15 rajbhavan guindy”. I don't know what to say. It was already 9:25. I have to do my shaving, bathing etc..etc.. Further I didn't have my breakfast yet. There was a great dilemma whether to go or not. I thought of lakshmi who took great pains to arrange this event. So I decided to go.

I reached Raj Bhavan at around 10:20 am sharply. Raj Bhavan is the governors place and painted in white it resembled like a gorgeous palace of those days. I waited for lakshmi to come so that I could go inside with invitation. The security was so tight. Soon I was given the invitation and I made my way into the gorgeous palace. After security checks I was inside a hall by the name “Annapoorna Hall”. Inside the hall I noticed the names of previous governors who took charge along with their working period. I read through all those names and found Shri. Surjith Singh barnala was the governor of Tamil nadu for second time. There were also large pictures laminated in fine frames of the presidents of India. The hall was clean with marble floorings. There were doors made of fine polished woods on both sides of the room. There were enough chairs for both press and visitors. I took my seat at second row. I was the first one to reach the room other than few press members who were checking there cameras and video cams before the function. Soon one man entered the hall. He was dressed up with clean white shirt with striped black court. The face was a familiar one,but I couldn't recognise it perfectly. I was just thinking, I knew this person.I have seen him before. “Who is this? who is this” my mind was keep on chanting. Soon many entered the hall. But still I was thinking of who that person was. I was starring at him thinking who he was.. when he suddenly turned back and said “Hi”. I recognised the voice and suddenly I asked “Is that you? Sharath Babu?” He smiled and replied “yes.. I am” I was excited and nervous to see such a huge personality sitting so close to me as a simple man. If you don't know Sharath Babu.. here is a little piece of info about him.

Sharath Babu is a graduate from the prestigious IIM at Ahmedabad. He was offered upto $185,000 per year as salaries. But he declined all those offers and stood for Indian Politics. He was one of the contestants in the election which was held few months back. He also won the MTV Youth Icon award.

Such a great person was sitting within my reach. I smiled at him and shared a few words with him. Then came another surprise.. A tall, fair, middle aged man in his early fifties entered the place. I could recognise the person very easily as he is one of the famous personalities in India.. We can say even to the world..He was none other than Our Universal Hero.. Dr.Padmashri Kamal Haasan, who entered the room silently. Oh. my god… I felt like I was jinxed, Somebody casted a spell on me. He nodded to everyone in the hall. Then honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu made his way to the hall. Then the function started. The website was successfully launched. I saw lakshmi for a second, who felt happy and contented after her hard work for lots of days.

Everyone completes their graduation.Do their MS in great universities in America,Get a job there and settle in life. But this girl, who in her mid 20’s completed her MBA in United Kingdom and came back to India and launched this site. Now she is running her own concern in Chennai. Such kind of persons always deserves encouragement and support.

I feel only few Indians are job providers, but many are still job seekers. Sharath babu’s last few words were regarding this concept. He told everyone to become job providers and not job seekers. Those golden words ever stay in my memory. I thank lakshmi for inviting me and giving me such a nice opportunity. It was different and a nice experience too. But still I wonder why she invited me for the launch. I had never seen her before today. Just one post on my blog about her website gave me such a big opportunity.

So atlast it was a day which I could say to everyone proudly that I met some great personalities in my life.

Hello friends

This post is dedicated to all my friends who have helped me in designing this blog. Also to those who were commenting, appreciating, criticising and keeping track of whatever is happening around in this blog.
I decided to write one post each day and i fulfilled it successfully for the month of June. This is my 30th post for the month of June and of course I am writing it a day earlier.I am not sure what might happen tomorrow. Everyone must have come around this saying atleast once in Life.blog
“Friends and Books should be few and good”.
I started blogging with no prior network or followers. Now after a month and half I have 12 followers to my blog and there are few who visit my blog daily and write their views on my post. I was always jealous when I see blogs with huge networks. But now I am not. I have a very small network, but still the network around me is one of the best. I just asked this guy to design me with two letters BT. The next day he gave a link to one Icon. I saw and I was surprised it was way better than I imagined. You can look at my gorgeous favicon near the address bar. Only very few offers such helps to members. What is so special about him is, he doesn't know me.I haven't spoken to him before.Just posted a comment in my blog to me and he instantly helped me. From Hobby To Passion

Its been a great Sunday today. My day started of with a great victory in a cricket match in which my team participated. The surprise was that I played a match winning knock today. Few shots which I played surprised the opponents which includes Kevin Peterson's Switch Hit(or) Shot. I received great appreciation from both my team members and opponents. But I fear this could be my last innings this year as I broke one of my fingers while taking a catch. One of my right hand fingers now appears to be bended(or) tilted at an angle of 30 degrees.

So its been one and half months since I started blogging. When I started blogging I felt like I was standing at the centre of an ocean and searching for the shore. I got this strange feeling because I didn't have a single person to guide me and none of my friends used to blog,So my network was zero. There were times when I just used to write a post and sit back the whole day checking whether anyone would comment. I was also a little bit scared of receiving negative or criticising comments. A criticism would really  put down the energy of a rookie. Then I started exploring for widgets as my next step. Discovered some great widgets, added them to my blog. I added the Hit Counter for the first time and was anxious to see whether my counter goes up or not. I used to reload the page often and see whether my counter has gone up by at least one  point. And slowly it started increasing.
When I started blogging, I was zero in expressing my thoughts. Giving shape to thoughts and imaginations are the most difficult things for me. Days passed as I wasted most of my time thinking and analyzing about the contents.I never knew what to write and ended up writing some posts on my subject electrical engineering with some basic diagrams. Suddenly there was a great surprise, the counter started ticking at a faster rate. Next I added the Cluster map widget. After installing this gadget the counter craze was over. Now I started longing for a tiny red mark to appear on the map. I felt like there was no improvement in my blogging skills and felt like giving up. There were 0 followers, no comments. I wondered why no one is commenting. There was not even piece of encouragement nor criticism. Why the hell am i writing blogs?
Then I started searching for other blogs and wanted to compare my standards with those blogs. Most of the blogs had a large network with large number of comments. Wlarge_PS2002~Passion-Postershen I was surfing through one of the blogs I found one badge “MEMBER OF INDIBLOGGER”. That was the time I realised that there are various communities for bloggers. I registered myself for Indiblogger and became a member too. I received both positive and negative reviews from INDIBLOGGER’s renowned members. I started exploring various blogs, read lots of contents.learnt how people expressed themselves. What are all the contents about which people are writing.
I learnt about editing templates, took my high school HTML book back from shelves and started reloading what ever I read in High School. I joined various other communities,Learnt some blogging tricks and posted about it in this blog.  Started writing comments in others blog, started writing in the forum of Indiblogger, reviewed various sites and asked back for reviews.
Then one fine day I saw many read spots on my cluster maps. There were Visitors from US,UK,Canada etc. Comments started pouring. All of a sudden my energy boosted and blogging which I actually started for passing my time turned into a hobby and now became a passion.
Still I am not saying I am an expert blogger and express my thoughts well. But there has been a considerable improvement in my writing skills.
I have created some menu’s in my blog design. Shifted my labels,Blog rolls to menus. And also attached a feedback form, after going through various hacks from fellow bloggers.
After one and half months these are few notable small achievements of my blog:
I got a page rank of 1/10
Ranking 72 in Indiblogger
Got a rating of 7.8 from Blogged
My blog is one of the top50 blogs in Web2rank.
Now I am heading towards 500 hits in my counter.
But there has been a small difference of opinion between myself and My brother. He is a great techie. Always learn new things in management, marine etc..etc.. he has a blog in which he writes about various unknown, unbelievable facts. But I prefer writing my personal things and I always wanted to give shape to my own Imaginations. He always asks me what's the use in writing these blogs? What are you going to gain from writing blogs? I have no other answer to say to him except Self-Satisfaction.

Hi5

2009-06-20 2 comments

Hi friends..

These are the five essential things which i use in my day to day life. I named these five things as Hi5..

So the Hi5 includes:

Sony Playstation2

Sony Hdtv

Mobile-Nokia 2600classic

My PC

My I-Pod Shuffle

Sony PlayStation 2:

The play station is absolutely the best of all. My play station really helped me during the worst and most difficult part of my life. My play station is almost two years old now. And Play station 2 is getting outdated at the market. I usually play at least ten hours a day during my holidays.  I usually love gaming a lot and many of my friends say I am an expert gamer. I always had that passion for gaming right from the age of 11. Games like NFS Underground,Most Wanted,Cricket 07,Formula one 06,Fifa  09 are my favourites. I used to sit for hours playing and while playing I used to forget the world around me.

I really felt the heat of life during the early 2009 period. I was affected by Hepatitis-A virus and was denied to go to college. My doctor insisted me to remain in house and so my parents never left me out of my house. Further the most unexpected tragedy in my life happened during the same period. My girl friend said she is no more in love with meBroken heart and broke up without any reason. This happened after our two beautiful years of relationship. This further affected me. Now I felt really lonely.I was away from my friends as I was not going to college and no more love. Now there was no one to whom I can share my sorrows. I never wanted to take my mobile as it was her last gift to me. My health was getting worse as I always used to think about her and my present situation. My close friends advised me as usual, “Just concentrate on things which you like the most,so that you might feel better”. So I was just thinking of what can change me? Studies?? books?? not at all. Then It was this play station which came to my rescue. I took my play station bought new games and started playing 24*7. I played and mastered each and every game I used to play during those times. It changed my world completely. I felt like I was reborn and after three months of great struggle,My blood reports showed that I was completely normalSmile. But once again my happy days with play station ended as my semester exams came right ahead….

My Bravia HDtv:

A life without television is unimaginable now a days. That too technology has developed to such an extent that televisions are used not only for media. I use Televisions for three purposes. One like every human being for watching sports, news, movies, entertainments, commercials etc. Second is my Samsung 17 inches LCD monitor is replaced by my Bravia. Yes, Of course I use my TV as computer’s monitor.I usually have the habit of watching HD and Blue ray movies. So I connect my whole system to my bravia to watch the Hd movies. I bet even a worst movie with good visuals will be a treat to eyes in Blue ray and HD formats. And the third use is of course my TV is the screen for playing games with my play station.

DSC01241DSC01242 DSC01248DSC01245

Nokia 2600 Classic & I-Pod:

My mobile, just a simple Nokia 2600 classic always keeps me in touch with my friends. I just now very recently passed out from college,So my mobile is very useful to stay in touch with my friends. But now-a-days we have orkut, facebook etc to keep in touch with everyone. But mobile is always Unique.

Listening to A.R.Rehman,Harris Jeyaraj,Eminem,Back street Boys with my I-pod always turns me on. I usually have the habit of travelling long distances in Buses and trains. My I-pod always makes my journey time a very comfortable and soothing one. There are times where I used to travel 15 to 16hrs in Bus. But with my I-pod these 15hrs just looks like 5 hrs of travel. Thanks to apple for such a creation.

DSC01237

My Pc:

Last but not the least. This one really helps me.I would call this an All-Rounder. Let it be Studies,Profession,Social Networking,Entertainment,Blogging, gaming etc. This always keeps me engaged. I am very sad that my most recent hobby (i.e.) Blogging has replaced my Play station. I never play now a days,as I spend most of my time for blogging. Its really sad to see my Play station packed inside a box.
