My Last Trip With My Friends

2009-06-09

We always go to excursions, pleasure trips, picnic with our friends during our school and college life. Those trips are always memorable because we never get such moments and occasions back in our life time.

It was a short two days trip.We started the trip to a place called Tiruvannamalai. Its one of the famous spot in south India. Its one of the most sacred temples in India. Then from their we went to two of my best friends house. One was a small village and another a town(Dindivanam).

We started the trip from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT),The largest Bus terminal in Asia.Nearly 15 to 20 of us were there. We got a bus to tiruvannamalai. we occupied the last three rows of bus. The whole bus remained silent, except our gang. Everyone was turning back and some looked with rage and some enjoyed what we did. We were playing cards for sometime. Then started singing songs…What we call as antakshari over here. But none of us were good singers. So everyone around us had a tough time.

After travelling for 4hrs,We reached TIruvannamalai at about 8:30 pm. Then we had our dinner and started walking for 14kms. Walking around tiruvannamalai for 14kms on a full moon day is very sacred. Since most of our guys have faith in god,We walked for 14kms.We split ourselves according to our walking speeds and each one completed 14kms at different times. Everyone after completing it,started to our friends village which was around 20kms from a place called vandavasi.

Our trip to the village was a very tired one.Everyone felt sleepy.Walking for fourteen kms is not an easy thing. We reached my friends house at around 5:30 am in the morning. We had a very warm welcome from our friends family.Their parents were very friendly and we had a good time with them. After having a nap, we were all ready to go around the farm lands. We have never been to a village before. The early morning atmosphere was clean and green. We cant imagine such a kind of atmosphere in any of the cities in India. We had a hot coffee and were going around the farm lands. The whole village was watching us as though we were from another world(aliens). Our friend who belong to that place showed a well, which was very deep and scary. To have some thrill we decided to have a bath in that well. Most of us don't know swimming and so it was very exciting. My friend tied a long rope on both ends of the well so that we can hang on to ropes whenever we are in trouble. It was very useful as we didn't know swimming. Most of us were hanging to the rope and denied to move away from it. We nearly spent three hours in well and then we had our bath. When we went back to my friends home, a nice breakfast was awaiting for us. We all were very hungry and had a great breakfast. After having our breakfast we started playing under a tree. Some took rest, some played cards sitting under the tree and some went back to swim in the well. After sleeping for hours we had our lunch. Once again after our lunch we packed our things for moving. We left the house leaving behind our memories and good time we had there.

Then we started to Dindivanam, where my another close friend resides. Again a three hours of travel in bus.We spent most of our time in travelling.  We reached at around 7pm.  We had a nice dinner and to our surprise there was a cricket match between Aus and SA telecasted in Television. So we watched the match for around one hour and had the dinner. We chatted the whole night regarding the four years we spent together and delightful periods we shared. We never cared about what the time was, until one of my friends yelled “Dudes its 2:30am…. time to sleep”. So everybody went to their bed. Everything was like a dream when I opened my eyes the next morning. It was 6am. My friends parents were waiting with coffee. We had our coffee and everyone hurried to catch the 6:30 train to Chennai. We thanked their parents and left quickly. We got the train and returned to Chennai around 9:30am.

Our trip was short and everyone felt like cant these days be extended…. Such happy moments, journeys always remains in our mind.  Now my college life is over and i know I wont get these days back.

I thank god for giving me such a friends in college. Friends are the greatest gift from god to human beings.
